Ingredients:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1/4 cup evaporated milk
- 1 large egg
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
- 1/2 cup dulce de leche for icing
- 1/4 cup heavy cream for icing
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Sprinkles optional, for decoration
Instructions:
In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt
In another bowl, combine buttermilk, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract
Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and stir until just combined
Heat oil in a deep frying pan to 350F 175C
Carefully drop spoonfuls of doughnut batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, turning once, about 2-3 minutes per side
Remove doughnuts from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil
In a separate saucepan, heat dulce de leche and heavy cream over low heat until well combined and smooth to make the icing
Dip each doughnut into the dulce de leche icing, allowing any excess to drip off
Place the glazed doughnuts on a wire rack to set for a few minutes
Dust with powdered sugar and add sprinkles if desired
Serve and enjoy your Tres Leche Doughnuts
